Senior Data Analyst - Business Intelligence

About the role

The Asia Data Office is looking for an experienced Senior Data Analyst to support its regional partners and strengthen Business Intelligence (BI) capabilities. The role is key to positioning Manulife as a digital customer leader, by building a robust BI platform and delivery framework for business reporting. It combines technical, operational and team-lead responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Act as team lead for priority global, regional and local BI programs across businesses and functions.
• Partner with business stakeholders, Product Owners and subject matter experts to gather, analyze, validate and document requirements.
• Prepare project plans, subsidiary plans (communication, training) and project registers (risk, issues, actions, decisions).
• Manage day-to-day project activities and direct the team toward project objectives.
• Lead delivery of ETL and other data applications via the cloud-based Enterprise Data Lake (EDL) platform.
• Oversee data gathering and cleansing, transformation and integration, and build charts, graphs and dashboards to present insights.
• Facilitate workshops, requirement discovery, process mapping and solution design sessions.
• Escalate issues and risks to sponsors or the steering committee as needed.
• Contribute to standards and best practices, and support SIT, UAT, business validation and production readiness.

Required profile

• 8 years of experience as a BI analyst, data analyst, BI engineer or data engineer.
• Ability to translate between technical and business terminology and to turn complex business problems into actionable solutions.
• Experience working with geographically and culturally diverse teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience creating user stories, BRDs, functional specifications, use cases, workflow diagrams and acceptance criteria.
• Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, Kanban and iterative delivery.
• English fluency, written and spoken.

Required skills

• Data manipulation, analysis, warehousing, mining and extraction, visualization and ETL.
• Power BI, SQL, Python, R, Spark and Excel.
• Big data tools such as ADLS, Data Factory and DataBricks.
• Preferred: team lead or project management experience, and experience in insurance or finance.

Working arrangement is hybrid.
