Secondary Teacher – Remote Campus (Cooktown)

About the role

The Teacher will join Holy Spirit College’s Cooktown campus to support young people who are disengaged from mainstream schooling. Working closely with families, multidisciplinary staff and residential students, the role focuses on developing personalised pathways toward further education, employment or community reintegration.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver curriculum for Years 7‑12, adapting content to meet individual learning needs.
• Develop and monitor Individualised Learning Plans for each student.
• Provide pastoral care and mentorship to residential boarders.
• Collaborate with specialist staff (counsellors, youth workers, justice liaison) to address complex trauma and behavioural challenges.
• Maintain accurate student records, assessment data and progress reports.
• Engage with families and external agencies to support student wellbeing.

Required profile

• Demonstrated commitment to working with vulnerable and disengaged youth.
• Relevant teaching qualification and experience in secondary education.
• Understanding of trauma‑informed and culturally responsive practices.
• Willingness to live on‑site or nearby in a remote area.
• Flexibility to adapt to varied educational pathways (day schooling, boarding).

• Competitive salary ranging from $86,660 to $126,795 AUD per annum plus superannuation.
