Remote Bookkeeper for Australian Businesses

About the role

We are seeking an organised, detail‑focused Bookkeeper to support the day‑to‑day finances of two growing Australian businesses. You will work remotely, closely with our Financial Controller, ensuring accurate books, timely payments and up‑to‑date financial records.

Key responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices, code and approve them, and prepare payment runs.
• Raise client invoices, allocate payments, follow up overdue accounts and resolve billing queries.
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards and payment platforms, investigating discrepancies.
• Prepare payroll inputs, verify timesheets and leave information, and assist with payroll processing.
• Maintain ledgers, supporting schedules and month‑end reconciliations for review.
• Maintain accurate documentation, including expenses and intercompany transactions.
• Identify and implement process improvements using Xero, automation and AI tools.

Required profile

• Proven bookkeeping experience supporting Australian businesses, preferably across multiple entities.
• Strong hands‑on Xero skills, including AP, AR and bank reconciliations.
• Experience with Australian payroll and GST.
• Confidence using Google Sheets or Excel to organise data and investigate discrepancies.
• Excellent written and spoken English and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently in a remote team and overlap with Australian business hours.
