Purchasing Officer – Food & Non-Food Supplies

About the role

The Purchasing Officer will lead supply development for all materials required to build and maintain new and existing stores, focusing on both food and non‑food items. You will act as the primary point of contact for purchasing activities on new store projects and ensure seamless coordination across internal teams and external vendors.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the purchasing lead for new store openings and projects.
• Liaise with Project Development (PD) to capture store opening requirements using the OSM list and PD‑SCM worksheet.
• Monitor store opening schedules via the PD Dashboard.
• Coordinate with SCM sub‑units such as Customer Service, Warehouse, and Transport.
• Source and canvas new materials, plot quotations, and maintain up‑to‑date canvass sheets.
• Develop alternative suppliers for the top 20 major items, securing at least three options per item.
• Maintain comprehensive vendor and material records, including evaluation forms, product specifications, COA, and CPR.
• Keep the master file of vendors and items current, ensuring price lists and canvass sheets are accurate.
• Negotiate best prices, terms, and secure price‑lock contracts with vendors.
• Promote the company’s image in all interactions with internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years experience as a Purchasing Assistant, Officer or in a comparable role.

Required skills

• Solid knowledge of purchasing processes, policies and systems.
