Project Inspector – Tunnels

About the role

The Project Inspector (Tunnels) will provide on‑site inspection and technical oversight of tunnel construction activities on behalf of the Owner’s Engineer. The role ensures that all works comply with approved designs, specifications, quality standards, safety regulations and contractual obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform regular on‑site inspections of tunnelling works to verify compliance with drawings, technical specifications and quality standards.
• Use checklists and quality plans to identify deviations early and document findings.
• Track and record progress against the construction schedule, maintain daily site diaries and photograph key milestones.
• Prepare detailed progress reports for the Owner’s Engineer and client teams.
• Engage with contractors, consultants and project team members to exchange technical information and resolve issues.
• Participate in site meetings, coordination reviews and support the review of contractor‑submitted method statements, ITPs, material approvals and other technical documents.

Required profile

• Experience in tunnel construction activities such as excavation, support systems and waterproofing.
• Proven track record of conducting inspections on infrastructure projects and managing non‑conformances.
• Ability to work collaboratively with contractors and engineers to resolve technical and quality issues.
• Knowledge of ground behaviour, geotechnical monitoring and specialized tunnelling techniques.
• Familiarity with local and international tunnelling codes and standards.
