Operational Trainer

About the role

Optum is seeking an Operational Trainer to lead the training function for its Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) operations. The role will design, deliver and continuously improve training programs for new hires and experienced staff, ensuring they become fully productive and aligned with the company’s healthcare services.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and manage the training department, overseeing curriculum development and automation.
• Deliver classroom, e‑learning and on‑the‑job training for all RCM back‑office functions.
• Assess training needs monthly, conduct focus groups, gather feedback and track batch performance to achieve 100 % productivity.
• Collaborate with operations, quality and management to identify gaps and update training content.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of best practices in learning and development and recommend improvements.
• Provide hands‑on experiential training by working on assigned accounts.
• Ensure alignment with Optum’s culture, mission, vision and values in both in‑person and virtual sessions.

Required profile

• Experience as an Accounts Receivable (AR) representative with a track record of training new‑hire cohorts.
• Background in US healthcare, specifically acute and ambulatory billing.
• Solid understanding of the end‑to‑end revenue cycle, including upstream and downstream processes.
• Knowledge of denial management and appeal writing for administrative and clinical denials.
