New Product Development Specialist

About the role

Spinneys is seeking a creative and commercially minded Product Development Specialist for its Pastry and Bakery division. You will be responsible for turning innovative concepts into high‑quality own‑label products for both retail shelves and the Spinneys Kitchen Café.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, test and refine recipes for bakery and café offerings.
• Lead product concepts from idea through trials, tastings and commercial launch.
• Ensure recipes are scalable for production while maintaining quality and consistency.
• Monitor food trends, ingredients and lifestyle changes to identify new opportunities.
• Benchmark Spinneys products against competitors and industry standards.
• Collaborate with Category Managers, commercial teams, production units, factories and suppliers.
• Provide implementation training and ensure compliance with food safety and quality regulations.
• Document recipes and product specifications clearly for production use.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Culinary Arts, Food Science or a related field.
• 3–5 years of product development experience in retail, food manufacturing or hospitality, focusing on breads, pastries and cakes.
• Proven ability to scale recipes for large‑scale production.
• Strong knowledge of food ingredients, culinary techniques and emerging trends.
• Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced, agile environment.
