Medical Virtual Assistant - Registered Nurse

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) or Medical Assistant (MA) to work remotely as a Medical Virtual Assistant. The role supports a healthcare practice with prior authorizations, referrals, patient communication, medication refills, insurance verification, and overall administrative coordination. You will interact with patients, providers, pharmacies, specialists, and insurers while maintaining HIPAA compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Submit, track, and follow up on insurance prior authorizations, handling approvals, denials, and required documentation.
• Process and send referrals to specialists, coordinate documentation, and ensure timely completion.
• Answer incoming patient calls, return callbacks, and address appointment‑related concerns.
• Process electronic medication refill requests and assist with clinical support.
• Schedule, reschedule, and send appointment reminders via phone and text.
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, and handle related inquiries.
• Send and receive faxes and clinical documents as needed.

Required profile

• Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) or Medical Assistant (MA).
• Previous healthcare or clinical experience required.
• Experience with prior authorizations, referrals, and insurance verification.
• HIPAA training and compliance knowledge.
• Strong communication skills with patients, providers, and insurers.
