Mechanical Engineer II – Sheet Metal & Thermal Design

About the role

Advanced Energy Industries is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to join its product development team. The role focuses on designing and analyzing sheet‑metal enclosures, bus bars, heat sinks, and other cooling solutions for electronic systems.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed mechanical models and drawings following GD&T standards.
• Perform dimensional tolerance analysis and tolerance stack‑up studies.
• Design for manufacturing (DFM) and assembly (DFA) to reduce part count and improve testability.
• Create components using sheet‑metal, machining, casting, molding, extrusion, stamping, and additive manufacturing.
• Specify and conduct experiments to validate design concepts.
• Evaluate simulation and test data to propose multiple solution paths.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years of design experience in electronic systems.
• Strong self‑management skills to drive projects from concept to release.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software (Creo Parametric or equivalent).
• Experience in sheet‑metal design.
• Knowledge of thermal and structural simulation tools.
• Solid understanding of GD&T and tolerance stack‑up analysis.
• Familiarity with DFM/DFA principles and poka‑yoke techniques.
• Ability to design for manufacturing using conventional and 3D‑printing processes.
