Mechanical Engineer II

About the role

Advanced Energy is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to join its Medical Design Group. In this role you will develop mechanical systems for power‑supply solutions, translating concepts into reliable, cost‑effective products that meet stringent medical and industrial standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design from concept through production release, including analysis, testing, documentation, and design verification.
• Create 3‑D models and detailed drawings that comply with GD&T standards.
• Perform thermal, acoustic and vibration simulations and correlate results with physical prototype testing.
• Design sheet‑metal enclosures, bus bars, heat sinks and other cooling mechanisms using DFM/DFA principles.
• Specify experiments and procedures to validate design concepts and ensure manufacturability, testability and serviceability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years of product development experience with electromechanical, medical‑device or electronic products.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with electrical, firmware, manufacturing and quality engineers.

Required skills

• Advanced CAD proficiency (SolidWorks, Creo Parametric or similar).
• Sheet‑metal design expertise.
• Experience with thermal and structural FEA tools.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack‑up analysis.
• Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) techniques, including poka‑yoke implementation.
• Familiarity with 3D printing and other rapid‑prototyping methods.
