Mechanical Drafter (Remote, Australian Client)

About the role

A full-time remote Mechanical Drafter position for an Australian client, based in the Philippines. The role covers the support, design and development of new and existing products, taking part in every stage of the product development lifecycle. The schedule is 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM AEDT (5:00 AM to 1:30 PM PH time).

Key responsibilities

• Detail draft mechanical components and assemblies via Windows Remote Desktop.
• Generate, update and maintain DraftSight 2D files and SolidWorks models, assemblies, parts and drawings accessed through a company laptop via Remote Desktop and VPN.
• Design and develop mechanical systems such as pumps, hydraulic flow systems, piping and structures, with remote team input.
• Run testing simulations and troubleshoot designs using virtual tools and provided data.
• Prepare accurate Bills of Materials (BOM) and MRP-related documents, and specify equipment and materials.
• Design mechanical components and systems independently, and prepare complete drawing packs for review and approval.
• Integrate mechanical designs with electrical systems by coordinating remotely with the electrical team.
• Produce and maintain 3D models and 2D drawings to Australian standards, and give material selection and cost-control input.
• Support products moving into production with detailed documentation and remote guidance, and take part in virtual design reviews.
• Manage your own workflow across time zones, delivering on time and communicating clearly.

Required profile

• Delivers drawings, models and documentation on time, accounting for time-zone differences.
• Produces drawings and models accurately and fully compliant with Australian drafting standards.
• Prepares error-free BOMs and delivers drawing packs and design documentation on time.
• Handles remote troubleshooting effectively and communicates professionally with stakeholders.
• Maintains a stable, secure Windows Remote Desktop and VPN connection to company systems and PDM.
