Litigation Officer

About the role

The Litigation Officer is responsible for representing and protecting the Bank's legal interests across a wide range of litigation, administrative, civil, criminal, labor, and regulatory matters. The role provides legal advice to business units, manages external counsel, and ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Handle and manage all litigation cases involving the Bank, including civil, criminal, labor, collection, foreclosure, and administrative cases.
• Prepare, review, and file pleadings, motions, affidavits, legal opinions, and other legal documents.
• Represent the Bank before courts, quasi‑judicial agencies, government offices, and regulatory bodies.
• Attend hearings, mediations, conferences, and settlement negotiations.
• Coordinate and oversee the performance of external legal counsels, ensuring timely handling of cases.
• Provide legal advice and opinions to management and business units on banking operations, lending, deposits, collections, employment matters, procurement, and other legal concerns.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, memoranda, and other legal documents to protect the Bank from legal exposure.
• Ensure compliance with banking laws, regulations, and internal policies; assist in regulatory examinations.
• Maintain a comprehensive database of all pending and concluded legal cases and prepare periodic litigation reports.
• Identify legal risks, conduct risk assessments for new products and services, and recommend preventive measures.
