Legal Department Head / Manager

About the role

The Legal Department Head / Manager will lead the bank’s legal function, ensuring full compliance with all regulatory requirements and providing strategic legal advice to senior management. This senior position reports directly to the executive team and oversees both internal and external legal matters.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the bank in courts, quasi‑judicial and administrative agencies.
• File pleadings, correspondences, and manage litigation and dispute resolution, coordinating with external counsel as needed.
• Ensure adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards, staying current with Supreme Court decisions, BIR, SEC, and BSP updates.
• Provide legal counsel on banking regulations, corporate governance, contracts, and litigation to management and other departments.
• Maintain relationships with external counsel, regulatory bodies, and industry associations.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, board resolutions, minutes, and certifications.
• Lead the legal team, set departmental budgets, performance targets, and oversee staff development and leave scheduling.
• Participate in staff meetings, training programs, and contribute to business‑operation recommendations.

Required profile

• Graduate of Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor and a licensed attorney.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing legal requirements within a banking environment.
