Legal and Compliance Director

About the role

The Legal and Compliance Director will lead the development and execution of the company’s legal and compliance framework, ensuring adherence to all applicable Philippine laws, regulations, codes and standards. Reporting to the Regional Counsel, this senior role partners with internal stakeholders and external regulators to protect the organization’s legal interests and promote a culture of compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a robust compliance strategy, monitoring program and infrastructure across the business.
• Provide accurate, timely legal advice on contracts, employment matters, corporate governance and other legal topics.
• Draft, review and negotiate legal documents, ensuring protection of the company’s rights and interests.
• Engage with regulators, external counsel and public authorities, building trusted relationships.
• Maintain communication strategies for agencies such as the SEC, PEZA, DOLE, SSS, PhilHealth, PAG‑IBIG, DOH, LGUs and the National Privacy Commission.
• Develop and deliver legal and compliance training and awareness programs for employees.
• Monitor regulatory changes, report on compliance incidents, and coordinate remedial actions.
• Collaborate with Group Legal and Compliance teams and act as Data Protection Officer when required.

Required profile

• Significant experience in corporate legal affairs and compliance within the Philippines.
• Proven ability to develop and manage compliance programs and legal risk mitigation strategies.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills with regulators and external counsel.
• Track record of providing strategic legal counsel to senior management.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of Philippine legislation and regulatory bodies (SEC, PEZA, DOLE, SSS, PhilHealth, PAG‑IBIG, DOH, NCP).
• Expertise in drafting and reviewing contracts, deeds and other legal documents.
• Risk management and compliance monitoring capabilities.
• Ability to lead training and awareness initiatives.
