Indirect Tax Specialist

About the role

Sulzer is seeking an Indirect Tax Specialist to support global tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions. The role focuses on preparing, filing, and managing indirect tax returns, leveraging automation tools and collaborating with finance, legal, and operations teams.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, analyze, and file indirect tax returns for U.S. Sales & Use Tax, Canada GST/HST, and VAT in South America.
• Utilize automation platforms such as Vertex and Avalara, reconciling data with ERP systems (SAP/Dynamics) and accounting records.
• Set up new tax jurisdictions, configure system parameters, and manage electronic filing and payments.
• Handle property tax renditions, annual tax license renewals, and stakeholder inquiries.
• Support audit processes by compiling and validating required documentation.
• Maintain and cleanse customer tax records, exemption certificates, and export evidence.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with Mexican VAT; knowledge of U.S., Canada, or South American VAT is a plus.
• Proficiency with tax automation tools, especially Vertex and Avalara.
• Experience using ERP systems such as SAP or Microsoft Dynamics.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, reconciliations, data analysis).
• Intermediate to advanced English (B1/B2+) for professional communication.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and detail‑oriented abilities.
