Head Miller

About the role

The Head Miller will lead the mill, silo, premix, and plant engineering sections, ensuring smooth process flow and alignment with production plans. This senior position oversees all operational aspects of a flour milling facility, driving efficiency, quality, and cost control.

Key responsibilities

• Review and optimise production schedules based on sales forecasts, wheat availability, mill capacity and inventory.
• Recommend monthly wheat requirements, manage silo space, coordinate shipments and control production budgets.
• Drive operational excellence to maximise plant utilisation, yield, product quality and economic efficiency.
• Monitor production volume, yield and quality; implement process improvements and corrective actions.
• Evaluate project designs and supplier quotations, recommend cost‑saving measures and coordinate with equipment suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with GMP, sanitation, safety and health standards.
• Supervise, coach and develop personnel; manage performance and succession planning.
• Prepare production reports, coordinate manpower matters with administration and support management decisions.
• Act as Officer‑in‑Charge in the Plant Manager’s absence, overseeing all plant operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Graduate of a Flour Milling School or Master’s degree in flour milling (advantageous).
• Minimum 7 years of plant management or manufacturing experience in flour or food‑related commodities.
• Strong managerial and leadership capabilities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
