Guidance Officer – Cluster (Moura State School)

About the role

The Queensland Department of Education is seeking a Guidance Officer to provide high‑quality guidance and counselling services across a cluster of schools in Central Queensland. Based at Moura State School, the role runs from 27 July to 11 December 2026 and supports Moura State School, Moura State High School, Theodore State School and additional small schools on request.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver individual and group counselling to students from Prep to Year 12.
• Collaborate with school leaders, teachers, families and external agencies to develop and implement wellbeing programs.
• Conduct assessments, provide advice and intervene to promote positive educational and social outcomes.
• Support staff in creating safe and inclusive learning environments.
• Provide occasional services to other schools within the cluster as needed.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in guidance, counselling or a related field and appropriate registration.
• Experience working in primary and secondary school settings.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, families and community partners.
• Ability to manage a flexible workload across multiple schools.

Required skills

• Knowledge of counselling techniques and student wellbeing frameworks.
• Familiarity with assessment tools and intervention strategies.
