Golang Software Engineer

About the role

An Australian telco company builds and shapes the technology behind next-generation connectivity, developing scalable, production-grade software and automation solutions across network, infrastructure and customer-facing platforms. The role involves building and maintaining end-to-end software and APIs for internal tools, applications and customer platforms, working with the Network Automation Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain production-grade software and APIs for internal tools, applications and customer-facing platforms
• Develop scalable Golang applications following best practices, coding standards and maintainable design principles
• Automate business and network-related processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort
• Solve complex performance, architectural and distributed-systems challenges
• Work with stakeholders and teams through the software development lifecycle, from requirements to delivery
• Use event buses, caches, workflow tools and containerised environments
• Implement and support CI/CD, observability and operational practices (OpenAPI, OpenTelemetry, metrics, logging, tracing)
• Take part in code reviews, technical meetings, training and special projects, and mentor junior engineers

Required profile

• At least 3 years of experience developing production-grade applications in Golang, with a strong understanding of the Go toolchain
• Strong software engineering fundamentals: API development, system design, testing, coding standards and maintainable architecture
• Experience with distributed systems and processing solutions, preferably with external event buses, caching or workflow technologies
• Experience with containerised applications, CI/CD and modern software delivery environments
• Strong understanding of observability (OpenTelemetry, metrics, logs, tracing, visualisation)
• Ability to work independently with initiative and accountability, and to mentor junior engineers

Required skills

• Golang and the Go toolchain
• Kubernetes and Helm concepts
• PostgreSQL and OpenAPI (highly regarded)
• Networking and infrastructure concepts such as DNS, DHCP, TACACS, RADIUS, Cisco IOS-XR and IAM integration (highly regarded)
