Financial Control Specialist, Controls Centre of Excellence

About the role

The Financial Control Specialist will join the Controls Centre of Excellence within ANZ’s Financial Control community. Based in Manila, the role ensures accurate month‑end close, prepares annual financial statements and upholds statutory and regulatory reporting standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review daily and monthly finance operations to guarantee accuracy, timeliness and compliance, escalating issues as needed.
• Prepare and review the Annual Financial Statements, schedules and notes, coordinating with on‑shore and external auditors.
• Act as subject‑matter expert and owner of centralized Finance Control processes, ensuring consistent execution across the Manila team.
• Serve as primary liaison for on‑shore stakeholders on process and control matters, aligning with statutory, reporting and regulatory requirements.
• Apply and monitor accounting policies, internal control frameworks and IFRS standards (including IFRS 16 and fixed‑assets accounting).
• Drive process re‑engineering, simplification, automation and centralisation initiatives to improve efficiency and control effectiveness.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of the financial control framework and month‑end close procedures.
• Experience preparing annual financial statements for audit and ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory reporting.
• Ability to embed a robust governance culture and support continuous improvement.
• Excellent analytical skills with the capacity to quickly learn finance control process flows and system functionalities.
