Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Manager

About the role
We are seeking an experienced Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Manager to lead the development and implementation of ESG strategies for infrastructure, energy and natural resources projects. The role will provide technical leadership on environmental and social safeguards, climate risk assessments and stakeholder engagement for private‑sector and IFI‑financed initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and oversee Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs/EIA) and Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD) for new and existing projects.
- Develop, implement and monitor Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs) and corrective action plans.
- Conduct Climate Risk Assessments (CRA) and integrate findings into project feasibility and just‑transition planning.
- Design and manage stakeholder engagement strategies, community consultation processes, grievance redress mechanisms and social risk mitigation plans.
- Interpret complex regulatory and policy requirements and translate them into actionable recommendations for clients.
- Provide strategic ESG advisory, ensuring alignment with IFC Performance Standards, ADB Environmental and Social Framework and other international safeguards.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, Social Sciences or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in environmental and social safeguards across infrastructure, energy, industrial or natural‑resource sectors.
- Proven experience managing private‑sector or IFI‑financed projects and leading multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong understanding of ESG, sustainability frameworks and climate‑risk adaptation.
Required skills
- ISO 14001 certification (or equivalent).
- Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) methodologies.
- Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD) processes.
- Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMP) development.
- Climate Risk Assessment (CRA) techniques.
- Stakeholder engagement and grievance redress mechanisms.
- Familiarity with IFC Performance Standards and ADB Environmental and Social Framework.
