Design Engineer – Sheet Metal & Signage

About the role

We are looking for a Design Engineer with strong sheet‑metal expertise to join our design team. You will turn concepts into detailed 3D models and 2D drawings, ensuring our signage systems are manufacturable, structurally sound, and cost‑effective.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimise sheet‑metal designs for manufacturability and assembly.
• Create detailed 3D models and 2D production drawings using CAD software.
• Apply Australian construction techniques and civil‑engineering basics to signage projects.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple design projects.
• Validate designs against wind‑load and other structural requirements.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in sheet‑metal design and fabrication.
• Familiarity with Australian drafting standards and construction practices.
• Experience in signage design or related fabrication industries.
• Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high accuracy.

Required skills

• Sheet metal design
• Metal fabrication techniques
• 3D CAD software (Onshape, SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA)
• Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
• 2D drafting compliant with Australian standards
• Basic structural engineering principles, including wind‑load considerations
