About the role
The Chief Electric Transmission Operator leads the daily operation of the electric transmission system for a municipal utility. Working rotating shifts, the incumbent ensures reliable power delivery, oversees emergency response, and mentors a team of switchboard operators.
Key responsibilities
- Operate and monitor SCADA systems, gas turbines, and other control equipment during normal and emergency conditions.
- Prepare detailed shift reports covering activities, electrical troubles, and corrective actions.
- Supervise Junior and Senior Electric Switchboard Operators, providing training and performance oversight.
- Verify accuracy of log sheets, station curve sheets, and kilowatt‑hour calculations for night shifts.
- Maintain compliance with NERC, RFC, and PJM reliability standards and business manuals.
- Handle telephone and radio communications as required.
Required profile
- High School Diploma or GED; four years of full‑time experience operating advanced electrical control equipment (or equivalent education/experience).
- Current NERC certification (Reliability Operator, Balancing/Interchange/Transmission Operator, or Transmission Operator) and PJM Transmission System Operator certification.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Valid Ohio driver’s license.
