Carpenter II

About the role

The Carpenter II provides general carpentry services to repair and construct structural woodwork, furniture, and related facilities across the university campus. The role also covers masonry, painting, roof and gutter repairs, and minor welding tasks required for routine maintenance and campus events.

Key responsibilities

• Measure, mark, and cut stock material for woodwork construction and repairs.
• Shape fine and rough wood components and install hardware such as hinges, knobs, and ornamental accessories.
• Repair or replace damaged or rotten wood parts of furniture, fixtures, and building elements.
• Perform masonry work, apply plaster or mortar, and construct structures using brick, stone, or marble.
• Prepare surfaces and apply paint; conduct glass door and window installations.
• Execute roof and gutter repairs, waterproofing, and roof replacement as needed.
• Carry out minor welding for bollards, gratings, doors, gates, fences, lockers, and decorative items.
• Transport fixtures, set up stages, backdrops, and cycloramas for events.
• Maintain tools and workplace cleanliness; perform periodic maintenance on doors, windows, and classroom furniture.
• Inspect roof gutters and downspouts, report findings, and coordinate repairs.

Required profile

• Ability to follow safety standards and use equipment as intended.
