Barback – Front & Back of House Support

About the role

The Barback provides essential support to both front‑of‑house and back‑of‑house operations at Switch Bakery, ensuring a clean, organized environment and smooth service flow. You will work closely with baristas, kitchen staff, and guests to maintain high standards of quality and hospitality.

Key responsibilities

• Front‑of‑house rounds: clear and reset tables, collect dishes, restock service stations, greet customers.
• Back‑of‑house rounds: bussing, washing/polishing dishes, receiving and organizing supplies, maintaining clean prep surfaces.
• Packaging and shipping: label and pack retail products, manage shipping supplies.
• Beverage support: prepare air‑pot drinks, milk and syrup prep, assist with brew‑bar methods.
• Guest service: take orders, handle register transactions, answer basic menu questions, and forward complex queries to baristas or chefs.

Required profile

• Comfortable standing for long periods and lifting up to 40 lb during peak times.
• Strong communication, ability to follow direction, and proactive attitude.
• Reliable availability for at least two shifts per week.
• California Food Handlers Certificate or willingness to obtain it within 30 days of hire.
