Application Support Officer

About the role

The Application Support Officer ensures the smooth operation of the company's core software applications. Acting as the subject‑matter expert, this role supports both business users and IT services to maximise system performance and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve incidents affecting mission‑critical applications, providing rapid fixes to restore service.
• Investigate reported issues, identify root causes, and implement permanent solutions.
• Document support processes, system configurations, and troubleshooting steps to establish standard operating procedures.
• Maintain application access, including account creation, role updates, and terminations.
• Collaborate with third‑party vendors on timelines, enhancements, and bug fixes.
• Assist with onboarding of new applications, gather user requirements, and test integrations.
• Install software upgrades and ensure platforms remain supported and secure.
• Stay informed on industry best practices, security standards, and legislative changes.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in application support or production support.
• ITIL certification is an advantage.
• Strong organisational abilities and excellent communication skills.
• Capacity to manage multiple parallel activities and set priorities.

Required skills

• SQL databases and SQL scripting.
• Windows and Unix/Linux operating systems.
• Troubleshooting methodologies and system integration principles.
• Basic knowledge of network and application infrastructure/architecture.
