AML Operations Analyst

About the role

As an AML Operations Analyst in ANZ’s Financial Crime Risk team, you will help protect the bank, its customers and the wider community from money‑laundering, terrorist financing and other financial crimes. You will work under the AML Operations Team Lead, investigating alerts generated by transaction monitoring and watch‑list systems.

Key responsibilities

• Process and assess potential Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing alerts from Transaction Monitoring Systems and Watch List Management tools.
• Investigate and review alerts to identify and de‑identify Politically Exposed Persons.
• Provide clear rationale for the creation of ML/TF and PEP cases.
• Close and justify false‑positive alerts, ensuring they are accurately de‑identified.

Required profile

• Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to influence stakeholders.
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Self‑motivated, responsible and collaborative attitude.
• Capability to create clarity in uncertain situations and translate complex information into practical solutions.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Anti‑Money Laundering and Counter‑Terrorism Financing principles (preferred).
• Experience in financial crime, risk or compliance environments (preferred).
• Broad understanding of banking and financial services products and procedures.
