Accounting Officer

About the role

The Accounting Officer will oversee day‑to‑day accounting and finance operations for multiple water projects, support budgeting and forecasting activities, and ensure the timely preparation of accurate, reliable, and compliant financial information for management decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Review all transactions for conformity with finance and accounting standards and established business rules.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, reporting packages, and ad‑hoc reports.
• Monitor accounts receivable aging, process receivable transactions, and ensure timely collections.
• Verify payable transactions, determine necessary accruals, and make corrections or adjustments.
• Perform substantiation, reconciliation, and analysis of assigned balance‑sheet and income‑statement accounts.
• Ensure tax compliance by preparing and filing monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns and responding to tax authority inquiries.
• Validate OPEX and CAPEX requests, monitor budget utilization, and support budgeting processes.
• Manage fixed‑asset accounting, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and adherence to capitalization policy.
• Assist the Manager with financial oversight of projects such as MEZ2 Water, West Cebu Water, Lima Water, and others.

Required profile

• Proven experience overseeing accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger.
• Ability to prepare accurate monthly financial statements and conduct variance analysis.
• Knowledge of tax filing requirements and experience ensuring timely tax compliance.
• Experience validating and monitoring OPEX/CAPEX budgets.
• Familiarity with fixed‑asset accounting, depreciation, and capitalization policies.
• Strong analytical skills for reconciling balances and supporting management reporting.
