Underwriting Analyst 3

About the role

Manulife is hiring an Underwriting Analyst 3 in Makati City. The analyst is accountable for sound underwriting decisions on all submitted applications, paid and unpaid, within turnaround time, protecting the company against uninsurable risk and supporting its growth and financial goals. The position is hybrid.

Key responsibilities

• Check that submitted documents are complete, sort and match requirements, and classify occupation, build, family history, financial, residential/geographical and medical risk
• Order assessments such as medical examinations, APS and blood tests, and document findings in CAS underwriting notes
• Conduct AML checks and liaise with the NB's AML Officer or Chief Underwriter when results are positive
• Discuss complex cases with senior underwriters or medical consultants, and underwrite medical and complex cases (ECI and HIB) within, referred by, or beyond your approval authority
• Provide loadings and generate rated proposals and letters for sub-standard cases, and prepare declined, postponed or deferred letters with refund checks where applicable
• Report impairments to the Medical Information Bureau (MIB) and handle inquiry cases, including alpha searches and consolidation of total risks
• Update the NB tracking system, notify distributors via Inotify mail, and ensure pending cases are filed daily

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Social Science/Sociology, Medical Science, Nursing or its equivalent
• Relevant underwriting experience in the life insurance industry
• Strong leadership skills with experience supervising a team
• Ability to collaborate with the team and other departments
• Preferred: LOMA, AALU or FALU certifications
