Technician I - Equipment

About the role

Microchip Technology is seeking a Technician I – Equipment to provide technical support for test operations and ensure equipment is ready for production. The role involves setting up test hardware, maintaining equipment health, and collaborating with engineers and supervisors to meet production goals.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the set‑up of test equipment (e.g., testers, contactor/pins, hardware handlers) according to production requirements.
• Verify that all test equipment is in good condition before production runs.
• Support equipment performance metrics such as utilization, MTBF/MTTR, availability, efficiency, yield and quality.
• Follow quality system procedures, control plans, and audit requirements.
• Maintain 5S standards within the assigned area.
• Execute preventive‑maintenance tasks as defined in PM specifications.
• Escalate major technical issues to shift leaders.

Required profile

• Ability to work under supervision and follow standard operating procedures.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality compliance.
• Willingness to collaborate with technicians, supervisors and engineers.

Required skills

• Experience with test equipment such as testers, contactor/pins, hardware handlers.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices.
• Familiarity with equipment effectiveness metrics (MTBF, MTTR, utilization).
• Understanding of 5S workplace organization.
