Staff R&D/Product Development Engineer

About the role

As a Staff R&D/Product Development Engineer at TE, you will lead the technical development of socket, high‑speed connector and cable‑assembly products from concept through production release. You will work closely with customers, product managers and field engineers to translate market needs into robust designs.

Key responsibilities

• Gather and interpret Voice of Customer (VOC) to define product specifications.
• Create concepts, perform feasibility studies, and run mechanical and thermal simulations.
• Develop detailed 2D/3D drawings, conduct DFMEA and tolerance analyses.
• Build prototypes, execute validation tests, and complete product qualification.
• Provide technical support to operations, quality and production for efficient launch.
• Manage engineering change notifications (ECN) and product change notifications (PCN).
• Follow the LEAN PD project process and drive stage‑gate reviews to meet schedule, quality and cost targets.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience with electrical components, connectors or cable assemblies.
• Proven track record in product development, tooling design and manufacturing process development.
• Strong understanding of material selection, tolerance analysis and product qualification.

Required skills

• Mechanical engineering design for sockets and connectors.
• 3D CAD tools (Creo, SpaceClaim, etc.).
• Mechanical and thermal simulation.
• DFMEA and tolerance analysis.
• Prototype building and validation testing.
• Engineering change management (ECN/PCN).
• LEAN product development and stage‑gate project management.
