SMSF Accountant – Remote (Australia)

About the role

We are looking for a motivated SMSF Accountant to join our Australian accounting firm on a full‑time remote basis. You will work closely with senior partners and a diverse client base, handling tax, bookkeeping and compliance tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and lodge individual and business income tax returns.
• Prepare Business Activity Statements (BAS) and GST returns.
• Compile financial statements for sole traders, partnerships, companies and trusts.
• Perform routine bookkeeping – bank reconciliations, ledger maintenance and data entry in Xero.
• Support corporate secretarial duties such as share transfers, director changes and annual statements using CAS or similar software.
• Administer Self‑Managed Super Funds (SMSFs) using BGL or comparable tools.
• Provide daily admin support, liaise with clients, and ensure compliance deadlines are met.

Required profile

• 2‑3 years of hands‑on experience with Australian tax, BAS and bookkeeping.
• Familiarity with corporate secretarial processes or willingness to learn.
• Understanding of SMSF administration and related regulations.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple client deadlines.
• Effective communication skills for client interaction.
