Senior Technologist - Food Innovation & Applications

About the role

Brenntag is looking for a Senior Technologist in Alabang, Philippines, to provide and develop technical solutions for customers across several food categories. The role works closely with the commercial team to meet customer needs, runs laboratory and pilot plant trials independently, and shares expertise with technical colleagues across Asia Pacific.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct hands-on laboratory trials to evaluate ingredients and solutions, especially in bakery, snack, savoury, seasoning and dairy segments.
• Handle processing equipment commonly used in food manufacturing.
• Complete customer projects on time and solve customer problems, and run internal application projects to verify ingredients from existing, new and potential suppliers and blended solutions.
• Work with the commercial team to respond quickly to customer needs and help win or retain business.
• Collaborate with marketing on events such as trade shows and innovation days.
• Work with the Blended Solutions Team to create and roll out solution blends, and introduce and train them to colleagues in other countries or regions when needed.
• Identify new products and applications from current, new suppliers and emerging trends.
• Train the commercial team and customers on the product portfolio, including blend solutions.
• Support knowledge transfer with suppliers and cooperate on customer visits for prototype demonstrations.
• Advise and support technical colleagues outside the Philippines.

Required profile

• Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Chemistry or Food Engineering, with relevant technical experience.
• At least 10 years of experience as a Food Technologist or in R&D in the food and beverage industry.
• Exposure to various food segments, including plant-based or hybrid solutions, for local or overseas markets.
• Experience applying food ingredients and blends, and presenting new solutions and prototypes to customers.
• Good knowledge of food nutrition and its application.
• Self-motivated, urgent and results-oriented, with good written and spoken English and strong communication skills.
