Senior Tax Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Tax Specialist to join our Tax Department and ensure full compliance with federal, state, local, and international tax regulations across NA and APAC. The role involves preparing complex tax returns, managing provisions, and supporting cross‑functional tax projects.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and file federal tax returns (1120, 5471, 5472, 1118) and calculate GILTI, FDII, BEAT provisions.
• Prepare and submit state and local income, franchise, sales, use, GST/HST/VAT, and commercial activity tax returns.
• File tax estimates, extensions, and manage tax calendars for deadlines.
• Assist with foreign tax returns in partnership with external tax firms.
• Respond to federal and state tax notices or audits, compiling supporting documentation.
• Research tax compliance and planning matters to ensure regulatory adherence.
• Interpret financial statement data to prepare tax provision schedules for financial statements.
• Collaborate with Accounting, Treasury, and external vendors on cross‑departmental projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (required).
• Master's degree in Accounting, Taxation, or related field (preferred).
• CPA exams passed or in progress (preferred) – opportunity to earn qualifying hours for Michigan CPA licensure.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of tax and accounting principles (IFRS and local GAAP a plus).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
• Experience with tax research tools such as Checkpoint or Orbitax.
• Familiarity with OneSource for tax preparation.
• Knowledge of PeopleSoft for accounting.
