Senior Tax Compliance Specialist (US)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Tax Compliance professional to join our team on a hybrid schedule. You will act as the primary point of contact for client tax matters, ensuring accurate and timely filings across federal, state, and local jurisdictions, with a focus on sales, use, and cannabis excise taxes.

Key responsibilities

• Process tax payments and manage compliance tasks such as entity formation, dissolutions, and SOS filings.
• Prepare and file sales, use, and cannabis excise tax returns, including CDTFA reporting and access setup.
• Handle local tax filings and maintain thorough work‑paper documentation for each submission.
• Communicate with tax agencies on behalf of clients and provide client education on state and local tax obligations.
• Research IRS and state tax notices, audit prior returns, and resolve compliance issues.

Required profile

• Proven experience preparing and filing sales, use, and excise tax returns.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance requirements.
• Ability to analyze tax notices, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions.
• Solution‑oriented mindset with excellent written and verbal communication.
• High attention to detail, strong organization, and time‑management skills.

Required skills

• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
