Senior Tax Accountant – US Compliance & Sales Tax

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to manage US‑based tax compliance for our clients. You will work in a hybrid setting, handling tax payments, entity compliance, and specialized sales‑tax reporting, including cannabis‑related excise duties.

Key responsibilities

• Process tax payments on behalf of clients.
• Handle entity formation, dissolutions, maintenance, change of entity type, and SOS filings.
• Prepare and file compliance tax returns, including sales tax and California cannabis excise tax (CDTFA) reports.
• Set up CDTFA access for clients and manage local tax filings as required.
• Maintain thorough work‑paper documentation for each filing.
• Communicate with tax agencies on clients’ behalf.
• Educate clients on state and local tax compliance.
• Perform additional administrative, compliance, or tax tasks as directed by the firm or managers.

Required profile

• 3‑5+ years experience with SOS filings, sales‑tax filing, and CDTFA reporting.
• Solid understanding of tax laws, regulations, and filing deadlines.
• Familiarity with accounting and tax issues in the cannabis industry.
• Solution‑oriented mindset with strong written and verbal communication.
• Excellent organization, time‑management, and attention to detail.
• Intermediate proficiency in Excel.
