Senior Payroll Specialist (Remote)

About the role

A rapidly expanding early childhood education provider operating 15 kindergarten centers is building an offshore operational team to support its growth, starting with core payroll functions and moving into broader accounting and bookkeeping support. It is seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to manage end-to-end Australian payroll for about 500 shift-based employees across several centers, in a multi-entity environment with complex award structures. The role is remote, paid PHP 80,000 to 95,000, with hours aligned to Australian business hours, and is listed as an independent contractor.

Key responsibilities

• Manage weekly payroll for 10+ entities and over 500 shift-based employees
• Interpret and execute payroll across multiple Australian Modern Awards, complying with complex shift variations and pay conditions
• Review timesheets and oversee Employment Hero configuration setups across multi-site centers
• Carry out End of Financial Year finalizations and reconciliation reporting
• Act as the main point of contact for employee payroll inquiries
• Partner with internal stakeholders and accountants to streamline payroll and scale systems

Required profile

• 5+ years of end-to-end Australian payroll experience with high-volume, multi-entity operations (10+ entities per week)
• Proven experience with shift-based workforces and Modern Award conditions
• Prefers prior experience in early childhood, education, or multi-site retail/hospitality payroll, and in offshore or client-servicing delivery environments

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with Employment Hero, including multi-site configurations and timesheet workflows
• Expertise in Australian EOFY year-end finalizations and reporting
• Clear communication and problem-solving ability to handle complex, fast-paced payroll work
