Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

The Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers Inc. (FILSCAP) is seeking an experienced legal professional to join its Legal Department as Senior Legal Counsel. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will lead the Society’s legal affairs, oversee litigation, ensure regulatory compliance, and protect intellectual property rights within the Philippine music industry.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage civil, criminal, administrative, and other legal proceedings, especially copyright enforcement and infringement cases.
• Coordinate and supervise external counsel and collection agencies.
• Monitor pending cases, prepare status reports, and advise senior management.
• Develop and maintain legal policies, procedures, and case‑management protocols.
• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate Legal Counsels and other legal staff.
• Conduct administrative investigations and provide guidance on labor and employment matters.
• Handle corporate housekeeping, including board resolutions, minutes, corporate documents, and regulatory filings.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on contracts, licenses, and commercial agreements.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, governance standards, and industry requirements.
• Provide legal counsel to the Board of Trustees, management, committees, and Society members.
• Liaise with government agencies, industry stakeholders, collective management organizations, and international bodies.
• Represent right‑sholders in legislative, regulatory, and policy initiatives, preparing position papers and participating in public consultations.

Required profile

• Member in good standing of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines.
• At least eight (8) years of post‑qualification legal experience, preferably from a reputable law firm or organization.
• Extensive litigation and dispute‑resolution experience with a strong track record of success.
• Strong command of remedial law and court procedures.
• Experience in labor and employment law is an advantage.
• Experience in intellectual property, copyright, media, or entertainment is preferred but not required.
• Graduate of a reputable law school with an excellent academic record.
