Senior Legal Counsel – Corporate & Litigation

About the role

OceanaGold is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join its Makati office. The role ensures compliance with Philippine law and internal governance standards while supporting the company’s mining operations across the globe.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement legal strategies for litigation, regulatory compliance, labor issues, and dispute resolution.
• Represent OceanaGold in court, negotiations, settlement discussions, grievance management, and hearings.
• Manage a diverse portfolio of legal matters, prioritize tasks and allocate resources effectively.
• Conduct stakeholder mapping and recommend engagement strategies aligned with OceanaGold standards.
• Maintain and enhance external relationships to strengthen the company’s influence and credibility.
• Identify opportunities to leverage stakeholder engagement for strategic benefit.
• Develop contractor management strategies, perform due‑diligence on contractors, and act as liaison to resolve contractual disputes.

Required profile

• Behaviour consistent with OceanaGold values and the OceanaGold Way.
• Graduate degree in Law.
• Proven experience in senior legal roles, preferably within mining or related industries.
• Strong oral advocacy and negotiation skills.
