Senior Electrical Estimator & Technical Services Manager

About the role

Hunt St helps Australian companies hire remote talent in the Philippines. This role is engaged directly by a Sydney-based electrical contracting client as an independent contractor, working remotely from the Philippines. The position covers estimating, tendering, CAD drafting and project support, initially for current and prospective projects, and later helping to build and lead a Philippines-based team of estimators, CAD drafters and project support staff. The schedule aligns with Sydney business hours (6 AM - 2 PM or 7 AM - 3 PM, Monday to Friday).

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate estimates, quotations, tender pricing, budgets and variations for residential, commercial and electrical fit-out projects, using Australian labour rates and material costs.
• Produce electrical shop drawings and as-built drawings in AutoCAD, review and markup plans in Bluebeam, prepare operation and handover manuals, and coordinate drawings with the Australian delivery team.
• Support project managers with costing, procurement, reporting and administration, track costs and labour, and maintain job records in Simpro or similar systems.
• Monitor tender platforms, assess prospective tenders, support tender submissions and maintain tender pipelines and CRM records.
• Help recruit, onboard, train and mentor a Philippines-based team, set quality standards and review team outputs.
• Identify ways to use AI and other tools to improve estimating accuracy, speed and productivity, and create reusable workflows and templates.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of electrical estimating experience, including Australian projects and commercial electrical fit-outs.
• Understanding of Australian electrical construction and tendering practices, and strong knowledge of AS/NZS 3000.
• Ability to interpret plans, drawings, circuit schedules, specifications and tender documents.
• Knowledge of power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, switchboards, cable sizing, RCDs and protection systems, plus structured cabling, fibre, security and CCTV.
• Experience with labour and material take-offs, supplier pricing and pricing variations.
• Excellent written and spoken English, strong numerical and analytical skills, and ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines independently.

Compensation is $2,000 - $2,500 AUD per month under an independent contractor agreement.
