Remote Joinery and Cabinetry Estimator

About the role

Hunt St helps Australian companies hire remote talent in the Philippines. This is a specialist estimating role for commercial joinery and cabinetry, paid AUD 2,000-2,500 per month as an independent contractor. You will prepare complete proposals from tender documents, drawings, schedules, specifications and supplier information. The client is a specialist contractor in the commercial construction sector, and the role is 100% remote.

Key responsibilities

• Review tender documents, architectural drawings, joinery drawings, cabinet elevations, sections, details, room layouts, schedules, specifications and builder scopes.
• Quantify joinery and cabinetry scope for kitchens, vanities, wardrobes, laundries, linen cupboards, reception counters, common area joinery, loose joinery, mirrors, stone, hardware, tapware and appliances.
• Prepare proposals with scope summary, pricing summary, inclusions, exclusions, assumptions, clarifications, lead times and tender return documentation.
• Identify missing information, inconsistent drawings and unclear specifications, and prepare RFI lists and clarification schedules.
• Track supplier pricing for hardware, stone, tapware, appliances, mirrors, accessories, freight and installation support.
• Maintain estimating templates, rate libraries, scope checklists, proposal templates and pricing benchmarks.
• Identify value engineering opportunities and prepare tender handover information for the project team.
• Communicate with Australian builders, suppliers and contractors by email and phone, and keep tender folders and records organised.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of estimating experience in joinery, cabinetry, shopfitting, commercial interiors, cabinet manufacturing, fitout or a closely related trade.
• Experience preparing complete joinery or cabinetry proposals; basic quantity schedules alone are usually not enough.
• Experience with multi-residential, apartment, hotel, aged care, student accommodation or commercial fitout packages strongly preferred.
• Experience with Australian construction projects, builders or trade packages strongly preferred.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Self-managed, reliable, deadline driven and able to work with limited supervision once the process is explained.

Required skills

• Reading construction drawings, joinery elevations, sections, details, schedules and specifications without basic training.
• Understanding joinery terminology, materials, hardware, finishes, stone, installation methodology and scope boundaries.
• Excel, Word and Bluebeam.
