Senior Buyer – Indirect Commodity (Purchasing)

About the role

The Senior Buyer – Indirect Commodity is responsible for sourcing and purchasing goods and services that support Advanced Energy’s business units. This role ensures continuity of indirect spend, aligns with corporate cost objectives, and drives cost‑effective solutions across local or global operations.

Key responsibilities

• Proactively source and develop new suppliers to meet capacity and revenue growth.
• Manage RFQ/RFP processes, conduct cost analysis, and negotiate pricing.
• Convert internal requisitions into accurate purchase orders, validating details and pricing.
• Confirm deliveries, expedite shipments, and handle urgent or emergency requests.
• Collaborate with accounts payable, end users, and suppliers to resolve invoice or PO discrepancies.
• Manage returns or RMAs for faulty products and maintain supplier information in the system.
• Partner with internal stakeholders (Operations, HR, Finance, IT, EHS) to understand requirements and provide procurement expertise.
• Evaluate supplier performance using KPIs and conduct regular business reviews.
• Ensure compliance with corporate policies and internal audit requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience managing a diverse portfolio of indirect categories at a senior buyer level.
• Experience in an electronics manufacturing environment and familiarity with Procure‑to‑Pay processes.
• Strong problem‑solving, planning, and multi‑project management abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SAP, Ariba or Oracle procurement systems.
• Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
