Senior Australian Tax Accountant – Tax Advisory & Compliance

About the role

Emapta is seeking a Senior Australian Tax Accountant to join its permanent work‑from‑home team. You will provide end‑to‑end Australian tax compliance, advisory judgment, and process‑improvement support for a diverse portfolio of entities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and lodge tax returns for individuals, partnerships, trusts, and companies.
• Compile financial statements, BAS, IAS, GST and related compliance documentation.
• Provide tax advice, guidance and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
• Identify and implement best practices for workflow efficiency, compliance accuracy and documentation standards.
• Monitor ATO regulations, lodgement requirements, compliance risks and statutory deadlines.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualification with at least 5 years of Australian tax experience.
• Proven senior‑level experience in tax return preparation and advisory.
• Strong knowledge of Australian tax compliance, including financial statements, income tax, GST, BAS and IAS.
• Ability to work independently, apply sound judgment and escalate complex matters.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Xero (mandatory).
• Experience with MYOB and/or QuickBooks (advantage).
• Strong Excel skills for reconciliations, reporting and financial analysis.
