Secondary Teacher – Cooktown Campus (Remote Area)

About the role

Holy Spirit College is seeking a dedicated secondary teacher to join its Cooktown campus. The role supports young people who have disengaged from mainstream schooling, helping them develop academic and life skills for future pathways.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess curriculum for years 7‑12 in a flexible, student‑centred environment.
• Provide pastoral care and mentorship to students with complex social and emotional needs.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary staff to design individualized learning plans.
• Engage with families and community partners to support student transitions.
• Contribute to residential life duties for boarders as required.

Required profile

• Qualified teacher registration for Queensland.
• Experience or strong interest in working with disengaged, at‑risk, or Indigenous youth.
• Commitment to the college’s mission of flexible, innovative education.
• Willingness to live and work in a remote regional setting.

Required skills

• Curriculum design and delivery for secondary education.
• Student assessment and reporting.
• Behaviour management and restorative practices.
• Collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.

• Salary range from $86,660 to $126,795 per annum (AUD) plus superannuation.
