Places Engineer

About the role

Ubiquity is looking for a Places Engineer to own the day‑to‑day operation of one or two sites. The role blends hands‑on technical work with coordination, ensuring building systems stay reliable, compliant, and efficient.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance and repair of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural systems, performing regular inspections.
• Schedule and supervise preventive maintenance to minimise disruption.
• Manage critical systems such as power supply, UPS, fire protection, and security, troubleshooting and recommending upgrades.
• Coordinate external contractors, enforcing safety and quality standards.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inventories, and performance metrics.
• Monitor and optimise building energy usage to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Ensure compliance with local building regulations and company policies, keeping audit‑ready documentation.
• Supervise, train and schedule maintenance technicians and support staff.
• Collaborate with Security and Housekeeping for smooth site operations.
• Manage facility maintenance budget and oversee capital projects, partnering with architects and contractors.
• Review and validate technical drawings, MEPF plans, and contractor scopes during build‑outs and fit‑outs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Extensive hands‑on experience with air‑conditioning, electrical, and construction works, preferably leading engineering for commercial build‑outs or fit‑outs.
• Comfortable working in mechanical rooms, active construction sites, and reviewing technical drawings.
