Operations Coordinator

About the role

The Operations Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all inbound cargoes are efficiently unloaded and outbound cargoes are loaded onto vessels. This role oversees container inspection, documentation, and coordination with pilots, tugboats, handling operators, and other port stakeholders to meet vessel schedules while adhering to safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect and release inbound and outbound containers, documenting condition in the Electronic Interchange Receipt (EIR) system.
• Validate Delivery Orders (D.O.) against actual containers and seals before release.
• Coordinate vessel arrival (ATA) details, manpower deployment, and ancillary services such as pilotage, tugboats, and fresh water supply.
• Conduct inventory of containers and chassis on‑dock and off‑dock, and ensure accurate reporting (VAR reports) to relevant parties.
• Lead toolbox meetings with vessel checkers and represent berthing meetings in the supervisor’s absence.
• Manage pre‑mounting of outbound cargoes, physical inventory checks, and transfer of cargoes between on‑dock and off‑dock yards.
• Prepare incident and damage reports, and liaise with surveyors or supervisors for investigations.
• Execute all operations in line with company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Proven experience in inbound/outbound cargo handling at a port or terminal.
• Strong knowledge of container inspection, documentation (EIR, D.O.), and release procedures.
• Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders including pilots, tug operators, and handling crews.
• Familiarity with safety standards and the ability to enforce them on the ground.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail for inventory and reporting tasks.

Required skills
