Operations Coordinator

About the role

The Operations Coordinator ensures smooth handling of inbound and outbound cargo at the port. This role oversees loading and unloading activities, container inspection, documentation, and coordination with multiple stakeholders to maintain safety and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Represent berthing meetings in the absence of the Operations Supervisor.
• Conduct and submit inventory of containers and chassis present at the port.
• Coordinate vessel arrival times, cargo volumes, and manpower deployment with handling operators.
• Liaise with pilots, tugboat operators, and fresh‑water suppliers for vessel requirements.
• Inspect, document, and accept shipside cargoes (RC, LCL, etc.) and ensure proper stacking and space allocation.
• Prepare outbound cargoes for vessel arrival and verify physical inventory.
• Lead toolbox meetings with vessel checkers before operations commence.
• Oversee unloading of inbound cargoes based on ICR and loading of outbound cargoes according to loadlists.
• Release inbound containers, document conditions in the EIR system, and facilitate transfer to off‑dock yards.
• Ensure containers are cleared from the pier apron and placed in designated marshalling areas within free‑time limits.
• Prepare and distribute VAR reports via SMS and email.
• Tag loaded cargoes in the system and maintain compliance with safety standards.
• Prepare incident reports for any untoward events and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Ability to act as the primary point of contact for berthing and cargo operations.
• Strong focus on 100% compliance with operational and safety procedures.
• Experience coordinating with handling operators, pilots, tugboats, and other port service providers.
• Proficiency in conducting inventory checks and preparing operational reports.
• Capability to document container conditions accurately in the EIR system.
• Excellent organizational skills to manage inbound and outbound cargo flows.

Required skills

• Familiarity with Electronic Interchange (EIR) documentation.
• Knowledge of cargo documentation such as Delivery Orders (D.O.), Loadlists, and ICR.
