Mid-Level Software Engineer

About the role

EcoMetricx is seeking a mid‑level software engineer to help build and scale data‑science and AI products for utilities, municipalities, and enterprises. You will work on multiple client engagements, delivering secure, high‑performance solutions that meet strict compliance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Rotate across two or three concurrent client projects, delivering features and improvements.
• Redesign ML pipelines for larger data volumes and stronger tenant isolation.
• Build secure, auditable CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions and SOC 2‑aligned approvals.
• Harden authentication, token handling, encryption‑at‑rest, and role‑based access controls.
• Integrate LLM capabilities into customer‑facing products, including retrieval pipelines and hallucination guardrails.
• Own API performance work, optimizing SQL queries, concurrency limits, and third‑party data ingestion.
• Develop flexible ingestion and transformation layers that adapt to evolving client logic.
• Contribute to technically rigorous RFP responses by assessing scope, risk, and architecture.

Required profile

• 3–6 years of professional software engineering experience, with at least one production‑responsibility role.
• Strong proficiency in Python and solid working knowledge of SQL.
• Hands‑on experience designing, deploying, and operating systems on major cloud platforms, primarily AWS.
• Practical experience with API design, data pipelines, and the trade‑offs between batch and streaming processing.
