Mechanical Engineer I – Manufacturing Design

About the role

UCT is seeking a motivated Engineer I to support the design and manufacturing of weldment assemblies for the semiconductor industry. You will create detailed drawings, CAD models, and process documentation while working closely with the shop floor to resolve production issues.

Key responsibilities

• Generate accurate manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
• Develop CAD models of parts and assemblies from sketches and mark‑ups.
• Create assembly drawings, Bills of Material, and detailed part layouts.
• Validate designs against material, process, and specification requirements.
• Provide technical documentation for design‑for‑manufacturability improvements.
• Support the manufacturing floor with real‑time defect investigation, rework, and repair disposition.
• Assist in creating tooling, fixturing, and process SOPs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
• 2–3 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SolidWorks for 3D modeling and drafting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with ERP estimating systems (e.g., Visual, Vista, Oracle).
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Access.
