Legal Officer – Documentation & Litigation

About the role

The Legal Officer (Documentation) will represent the bank in court cases and legal actions to protect its interests in retail lending, including auto loans, mortgages, credit cards, and unsecured lending. This role involves managing litigation, preparing legal documents, and coordinating with external counsel.

Key responsibilities

• Review auto loan, mortgage, credit card, and unsecured accounts for potential legal action, including foreclosures and collection cases.
• Act as counsel for the bank in litigation related to auto, mortgage, and unsecured loans, and monitor case status.
• Attend court hearings, meetings with clients, arbiters, court personnel, and government agency officers.
• Prepare and send final demand letters and request missing loan or collateral documents from relevant units.
• Draft legal opinions on endorsed non‑performing loans and impaired assets.
• Conduct legal research and review contracts and loan documents.
• Refer cases to external counsel, track monthly progress, and ensure proper filing of case files.
• Assist with auction sales, including preparing bid documents, attending auctions, and processing certificates of sale.
• Provide legal advisory, contract preparation, and support for administrative and labor relations matters.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law or Juris Doctor.
• Member of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines or Bar passer.
• At least 1 year of litigation experience, preferably in banking or financial services.
