Legal Counsel – Renewable Energy (Philippines)

About the role

The Legal Counsel will provide end‑to‑end legal support for renewable energy projects across the Philippines, covering solar, wind, hydro and battery storage. You will work closely with development, construction and operations teams to ensure compliance and mitigate risk throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate project agreements such as PPAs, EPC contracts, O&M agreements, land leases, joint venture and financing documents.
• Lead regulatory and permitting processes with agencies including DOE, ERC, DENR and local LGUs.
• Advise on compliance with the Renewable Energy Act, EPIRA and related implementing rules.
• Support financing activities, liaising with lenders, multilaterals and external counsel.
• Manage land acquisition, title due diligence and coordinate with local counsel.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and assess business impact.
• Provide corporate structuring advice, including foreign equity compliance.
• Coordinate external counsel and support dispute resolution and ESG legal obligations.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) from a recognised Philippine law school; admitted to the Philippine Bar.
• Minimum 7 years post‑qualification legal experience, preferably in energy, infrastructure or project finance.
• Strong knowledge of Philippine energy regulations (Renewable Energy Act, EPIRA, DOE/ERC frameworks).
• Proven track record in drafting and negotiating commercial and project contracts.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills, able to advise non‑legal stakeholders.
